Accenture and Orange Business Services (OBS) have announced the formation of an alliance that would help European customers in formalizing their cloud strategies. Accenture would be providing the expertise related to the planning, implementation and monitoring of cloud services with focus on specific industry verticals. OBS would provide its expertise in handling infrastructure as a service and other cloud management services. Accenture had already got into an understanding on providing cloud services with Dell and Microsoft. But the alliance with OBS is a significant step as OBS has a data center in France and this would enable Accenture to expand its base in the European region.

The alliance would be able to target more small sized and medium sized customers in France across different industry verticals. This alliance is a major gain for Orange Business Services as it would enable its cloud based platform to get access to a wider audience spread across different geographies. With NSA snooping allegations, European business owners have become more concerned about their data privacy. With this acquisition of Orange Business Services, Accenture would now be joining its competitors HP and IBM in having data centers in continental Europe (France and Germany).
