According to the survey conducted by the UK government cloud provider, Eduserv, the lack of knowledge of the cloud based technologies among the government employees is making it difficult for Eduserv to hasten the implementation of cloud based applications across the different government departments. Eduserv conducted the survey among 829 government employees on their knowledge about cloud computing. Of those surveyed, almost 90% of the employees were unaware of the cloud based technologies and required considerable amount of training on cloud technologies.
Around 75% of the government servants feel that they are totally unaware of the benefits provided by the cloud solutions and are not willing to deeply explore the subject. Government employees also felt that the current workforce do not have the required skills needed for migrating the existing applications to a cloud based system. Nearly 50% of the employees felt that they do not have the required knowledge to deal with the migration process. One of UKai??i??s well known recruitment firm, Robert Half Technology, published a report in October 2013 concluding that the UK IT managers consider cloud computing as the most sought after skill. It also published that many cloud related jobs remained unfilled due to lack of trained resources.
