Cloud service provider, Interoute, has announced that the company has set up a new virtual data center in Hong Kong. Interoute has joined other cloud providers in choosing Hong Kong for setting up their virtual data center. Customers of Interoute can now move their data and application across different data centers without spending any extra money. Lee Myall, the general manager of Interoute app store CloudStore, remarked that this setting up of a data center in Hong Kong is a right step in expanding their presence in Asia Pacific region. Lee also added that the company also has aggressive plans for expansion in the European region.
Hong Kong has been the backbone of many well established cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Rackspace. Myall said that in addition to meeting the data center needs of the cloud service providers, Hong Kong also acts as an important telecommunication hosting various telecommunication services. Hong Kong would also provide access to the neighboring China and Pacific countries that are in the neighborhood of China. Myall remarked that its CloudStore service platform has been able to penetrate a smaller business customer base that is willing to carry out its functions on a self help mode.
