Amazon Web Services remains the undisputed leader in cloud service offerings including cloud computing services and cloud storage services. Andy Jassy, the Senior Vice President of Amazon Web Services, recently spoke at a promotional event organized by AWS in San Francisco. During the course of his speech, Jassy explained how AWS had grown by leaps and bounds in the last 5 years and how AWS has been able to establish its presence in 10 destinations spread across different continents including Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Singapore, Europe and the United States. He also added that AWS doubled its footprints since 2011.
He also told the delegates that the companies who get into business these days, including startups, have users that are spread across different corners of the world. Hence, AWS has been able to serve its customers from different locations spread across the globe. This is a far cry from the IT service providers some 10 years back who had confined themselves to a particular location and served customers from that particular location. Jassy also explained the reasons for the companies taking up to AWS quickly. He mentioned three important factors for the popularity of AWS including agility, cost savings and flexibility.
